The CATALYS® Laser signifies a bold leap forward in cataract surgery. One of the first femtosecond laser cleared for use in cataract surgery, it brings image-guided computer precision to refractive cataract surgeons. Kalamazoo Ophthalmology is pleased to offer this exciting technology to cataract patients.
The CATALYS® Laser Cataract Surgery is a technologically-advanced procedure, that offers a new level of precision and reproducibility in ophthalmic surgery. The CATALYS® Laser is designed to bring a new level of accuracy and reproducibility to refractive cataract surgery.
Customization with 3D Imaging
Like a fingerprint, every eye has a unique size and shape. Prior to treatment, the CATALYS® Laser images your eye and makes precise 3D maps of relevant structures. This enables your surgeon to create a tailored treatment plan that is uniquely customized for your eye.
Your surgeon can use the CATALYS® Laser to create laser precise incisions, including a circular opening in the lens capsule to access and remove the cataract. This precise incision helps your surgeon place the new artificial lens where intended.
Your surgeon can use the laser to soften the hard cataract. Softening the lens with the CATALYS® Laser enables your surgeon to remove the cataract gently.
The CATALYS® Laser can perform anterior capsulotomy, lens fragmentation and all corneal incisions with tremendous reproducibility. It is also used to reduce small amounts of astigmatism, making the post-operative vision even better than before.
The system performs surgery according to your surgeon’s preferences. From clean three-plane corneal incisions to customized fragmentation patterns, we can create predictable cuts that carry through subsequent steps of refractive cataract surgery.
